Could be. Perhaps a tweak to the surroundings as well. I'm thinking Saw, but I'm seeing clean and tidy. You may be able to add to the effect by making things... 'dirtier'.

This type of critique seems very dominant on this site? IMO there are just a lot of folks who are a bit intimidated or not knowledgeable in providing technical feedback so they resort to "flaming".

This has been my whole point, I am not here for this childish BS.... I for one will not be "critiquing" forum members. I will leave the smart comments to the actual photos which might actually be useful to someone.....

Ok so by your logic, what's the difference between you posting a highschool portrait asking for technical critics vs you trying to convey an idea and ONLY accepting technical critics?

Your idea sucks because you didn't try. If this is the kind of approach you are taking to real life, you won't survive.

And no this is not flaming. I have already shown you alternative approaches that you can look into. If you don't think that's helpful, that's too bad.

Well since it seems my opinions didn't go over too well, maybe it is best that I just come back reinvented tomorrow. It did take me my whole FIRST day to kind of come across as a dick so maybe starting over on another foot, a cooler head and a little more confidence in my idea is best. I wanted to learn by joining this site and I guess I have... OUCH!

I kinda see where you're getting at with this. Looks to me like he is gasping for air.

Maybe a shot where he is under water, eyes open and one hand reaching for something? Maybe reaching to the camera? That would be the fear of drowning!

I'm no pro and if there was something under a beginner, that may be me. But I think the shot is very crisp and clear.
