The only closed door there is the paid for access aspect. I will fully admit that when nudity was first banned we didn't manage to agree to using the subscribers section to allow a nudity/NSFW section to be opened up. IT was a shame as we did lose a few good photographers at that point. However we were later able to get the NSFW gallery added to that feature.
So, create the section, make it available only to supporting members, and be done with it...
If you've ideas of motivations to increase activity there that we could adopt or put into effect we'd be happy to listen to them.
Well, right now, I don't know what's possible. Apparently, the hammer's been dropped pretty resolutely when someone would post a photo of a gun, so it's no great mystery as to why gun photos are scarce.
You want to increase activity? Forget the ban. Forget the ban for, I dunno', a month. Let people post without the fear of reprisal. Do this to see who'll take the "artistic" road and who'll take the "Yee haw, lookit mah gunz!" approach. That's the only way you're really going to get a sense for what activity may be like because, with an overshadowing threat of having a photo removed, many will probably not do it.
I own a lot of guns (for anyone interested, the Zombie Apocalypse Survival Center is now located in St. Augustine). I would like to photograph these and share them. Some of the guns are actually quite old. I would be reluctant to post such photos now, though, simply because I've been made aware that the moderators will be the deciding body for determining their artistic worth. And, given the fact that guns are such a hot button issue, it should be expected that such photos would be moderated more heavily.
Oh, and I haven't looked: Is that photo of the pickup I linked to still up? I really would love for someone to explain the artistic virtues contained therein...
