I actually wanted to get a camera that can shoot good footage and take good pictures......

That is much more a function of the skill and expertise the photographer has, than the gear used.

In other words an unskilled photographer will make poor and weak images, even if they use the most expensive, most technically capable pro gear.

It's not the gun, it's the gunner.

Be aware shooting video with an SLR isn't like shooting it with a video camera.

But you should know that a whole season of House (TV Series) was shot with a dSLR. Though this was a high end camera, it's still shocking that they would use an SLR out of all the other professional equipment they could have used.

And the T2i is more than "pretty decent" for photos.

Even better! This is just an entry level camera so I was comparing to more costly ones.

That is a great quote, and thats a very good point. But I was talking about the technical quality of the footage/images. Thanks for pointing that out though.
