I want to thank everyone for your help regarding the purchase of a D850 for my wife, she loves it! Since as stated before I am her mule and lug the gear, I am interested in a Carbon Fiber Tripod. And because my wife insists on Manfrotto, I am looking for a Carbon Fiber Manfrotto Tripod.

The heaviest lens she has right now is the Nikon 80-400. So what Tripod will handle that without slipping or movement?

She prefers the Pistol Grip Monfrotto Head, but I am not sure if that design is the most secure.

Thank you again for your help!

I have been using the Manfrotto 190CXPRO4 legs with a 498CR2 head. I've been pleased with this combination, but my 70-300 lens is not as heavy as that 80-400. I use it most of the time for macro and there is no slipping.

That looks like a nice one! Handles 11 pounds.

IMHO, which tripod head you use, depends on the gear and what you are shooting.
I use 3 different heads: 3-way pan, ball, and gimbal. And I am thinking about a 4th; a geared head.
