CC wanted

Hey there new to this forum (well had it a while but decided to finally post something. I've been doing landscape for over a year and have just recently ventured into people (my own little people lol) anyways I really have no clue other than what I've taught myself what to do. So would love some CC if this is any good lol! Be as harsh as you want I'm thick skinned and it's the only way to Learn in my books. But please use laymans terms as I'm a little thick on people photography terms lol

You chopped off part of one foot which stands out a bit as the rest of the photo is quite clean and clear with the white background.

Also something is odd around the facial area; it looks like either you've focused on the chair and the depth of field hasn't quite reached the face; or you've focused and recomposed and not adjusted the focus for the shift in angle; or you've applied some editing softening to the facial area.

Yeah was a bit bummed I chopped her foot off, I was using my 50mm in a confined space and yes your right about the focus I didn't think to move my focus area in camera to her face at the time I focused the re-composed, something to remember next time and yes I softened just a little in PS, wanted a nice soft look, do you think I over did it a little? I think you have over done it. Softening is an art in itself and there is a fine line between getting a pleasing artistically soft look and one which starts to look alien or even plastically. Have a look at a good few publications and you can start to see where the "nip tuck" in digital editing and the skin smoothing/softening starts to give people a very alien appearance that; whilst we are used to seeing it in marketing and images, is nothing like the real representation of a person.

Yup totally get what your saying, very very new at this people busio lol whole new editing technique to what I'm used to! Think ill just stick to the basic edits for a bit and try not over do it for now this is another I took with very minimal edits except I made her eyes a tad brighter, better you think? I'll get rid of the skin softening on the other tomorrow ........ except it keeps coming up invalid file when I try attach :/ shall try tomorrow from laptop when not so tired lol

The pose should be more natural. The model is in tension, and the intent I believe was to show relaxation. Do over.

Overread pretty much nailed the c&c for you. I have found that kids don't need much softening of the skin at all. (You don't want her to look 22 )

Thanks guys guess I got lots of work to do Hahahaha. As I said I'm very new to people, done LOTS of landscape and this would prob be maybe the 10th person pic I've taken being my own kids lol). I've only recently become interested in taking people pics mainly because I've done my town landscape to death and feeling very bored at the moment photography wise so thought I would make a challenge out of something and who doesn't like nice pics of their own kids right? I found that I actually enjoy it so want to get better and broaden my horizons more photography wise

I'll get rid of all the edits I did on the image and re-post it again tomorrow, not much I can do with her pose as the other zillion shots I took were of her pulling faces (glories of taking your own kids picks) but if I can get the basics right then I have a start point
