This is a big reason I have a business. When I want something "big" I just need to be creative in how I can use it at least once for the business and then it's a write off.

If it's a new big screen tv I just need the customer to come over to view some of my work on it. BAM, written off.

The knives might be harder. Just have to get more creative.

I'm a compulsive wanter.

I see stuff and I want it, and I can't get my mind off of it forever.

And then I try to ignore it...

...and when that doesn't work, I find reasons to need it...

...and then I eventually buy it.

I wanted a new Wacom tablet. I saw it. Took me about 3 months to work through the "Do I REALLY need this?" before I finally bought one.

I wanted a GoPro. ZERO use for that. But I just bought one. For my husband. Who DOES need it. And then it's here for when I feel like playing with it. :lmao:

I also wanted two new camera bags. I have refrained from shopping because once I start shopping, it's only a matter of hours before I buy. After a few months, I finally started shopping last night around 1am. Now, today at 2:55pm, I'm ready to order. The only reason I HAVEN'T yet, is because a friend of mine is an Amazon Prime member and I'm gonna make HIM order it for me so I can get it free shipping, in 2 days, so I have to wait for him to come over later.

50% off (or whatever) sales do nothing really to phase me (unless it's for kids supplies, clothes, etc).

I don't even buy chewing gum at the checkout ...

the only thing on my mind right now is a 85/1.4D and 28-70/2.8 AFS lens
but those are expensive ...

I'm not much of a compulsive buyer myself, if anything I'm pretty much the exact opposite. I tend to plan my purchases carefully, especially bigger purchases and in particular camera equipment. I'll investigate options, weigh pro's and cons, generally go back and forth for quite some time before I finally commit to buy anything.

My parents raised me to be careful with every purchase I make. It took me almost a year to decide to buy the D800. The 16-35 was kind of an "impulse" buy, as when I upgraded I hadn't planned on getting that too. But I'm selling off old gear to pay for it, so I don't think that counts. Impulse buys stress me out.

I impulse bought a car last week.

I justified it. My small SUV still had a remnant of trade-in value left and a bad financing deal (we bought it 4 years ago when we were broke broke broke after maternity leave) wherein we'd be paying $X for 4 more years. I got a flier for a sale at my dealership, started doing a bit of research, and went in and bought a car the next day. It's a smaller hatchback, we'll be paying the same $X payment for 5 years, but it has a 7-year extended warranty (not really, I'll use up the 140,000km somewhere around 4.5-5 years), and I'm saving about half of payment $X in gas every month.

But I still spent less than 24 hours between the "New car?" thought bubble and handing over keys.
