if you want the compression and bokeh shoot with a telephoto lens. Even the difference of say 24 to shooting at 70 you'll get the compression and bokeh with being able to shoot at the needed fstop (f/5 outside is nothing i wouldn't be surprised if you have to go to f/11 to get a proper exposure)

What do you mean "proper" exposure? Aren't there many different ways of getting the same "exposure"? Using f/5 with a faster shutter speed could get me the same exposure than using f/11 with a slower shutter speed right? We will also be upgrading lenses as we begin getting more business. A 50-200 2.8 zoom is on the list which will help us get that compression and bokeh you are talking about right?

yes equivalent exposures will get you proper exposure but shooting at f/2.8 at a shutter speed of 1/500 or higher is almost silly, your lens will be sharpest stopped down just a bit and there is no ill effect of slowing your shutter speed a few stops. Also once you properly add in your flash you are going to use your fstop to control how the flash works your image.

Areas with lots of trees overhead create an area usually with very bright spots and very dark spots it would be better to move to where it is all shade, you will get ambient light and not have to worry about areas that are blown out due to the sun streaking through. And yes, but you will see as soon as you start shooting with that lens that even at 5.6 you'll get a bokeh you did not think was possible when you are in the 100 + area of that lens.

I like the pictures. Just need a little work.

1 - If the car has a sentimental value between both of them, I think it would've been better if they were in front of the car more along with you.

2 - Same goes with the white balance comment. And I think if the ring was a little more focused and in view, that would've helped.

3 - Is that a person in the background? I think something more appealing for the eye in the background would've helped. A gazebo, fence, a sunset / pretty sky, something a little less "plain" and something more couple-oriented IMHO.
