One more point worth mentioning about #1 is your Point of View. It has that "I'm just gonna stand here and take a shot" look to it. IMO, particularly with children and pets, it is best to get down on their level. More like in #2, but even lower will work.
That was going to be my advice Get down on her level...
I would also tell you to get closer and shoot with a lower f#, THis will help create a greater depth of field and isolate your subject. Don't stand further away, zoom in, then crop. I know with children and pets, it can be harder to get your desired shot when you get close, but I promise when you do, its worth it
Lastly, I would tell you to focus on her eyes, afterall, that's usually what people are drawn to. Good luck and keep practicing
