Free NIK software

I just confirmed this, you can open images in the NIK software standalone. This is great news if someone wants a better way to edit their photos for free.

No RAW support obviously, but it will open uncompressed TIFs.

There is a catch though, not every application will allow you to open images standalone. Only Analog Efex Pro 2, Color Efex Pro 4, HDR Efex Pro 2 & Silver Efex Pro 2 will allow you to open images.

All of the applications will let you open images in stand alone mode. See below:

Drag image onto application and it will open.

Ahh! I did not know that you can drag and drop it to those. Very interesting. Useless to me because I'll just open them up from LR but good to know.
