Help needed

I am going to redo the session I had with the redhead in the snow but I have some issues and I hope that someone can help. First her skin tone, her choice of foundation has a orange tint to it and I find it difficult to get her skin tone just right. Any suggestions should i ask her not to wear the foundation ? Should I have someone apply her makeup ?

My thoughts are that you want to strike a balance between the formal dress and the outdoors natural look. If she must use a foundation try to help her find one that matches her skin tone and then use it as little as you can, I've had criticism (justified) of portraits where the face colour is different from the neck/chest skin colour. I've noticed that many young women seem to think they have to plaster the foundation on with a trowel when their skin is actually as close to perfect as it is possible to get! I'm sure she doesn't want to look like the mother of the bride (of Frankenstein). Reassure her that you can take care of zits, blackheads and pimples in post. With the dress in mind eyes and lips will need to be subtly made up with possibly a little blusher unless the cold brings the roses to her cheeks.

That's my tuppence worth ... you get what you pay for!

Good MUAs who know beans about photographic makeup can be hard to find... get the wrong one and your shoot is screwed.

True.. but any good MUA, will probably know more than the model does....

Thanks for all the input. I was worried about offending the model telling her she cant put her makeup on correctly or doesnt know how to choose the right shade. I do have a friend that is a MUA and will be consulting her. The post about bringing different shades along , This girl is doing me a favor and the last thing I want to do is upset her . doesnt make for a good session if the model is in a bad mood

Exactly, just tell her that she is was worth hiring a MUA for, to help enhance her natural beauty even more.
