Been fiddling around with photography for years - mostly on automatic settings. Now in my senior years I plan to get more serious. In fact I am planning to buy a Canon 5D Mark IV soon. Any comments would be welcome.

The canon is a nice camera, I may be a bit bias as I use canon lol
If you do get that canon please do try to get off the all auto. Playing and trying out the different settings is allowed lol
Just think like a kid# what does this do, what happens if I try that. With digital you don’t have to worry about the cost of film or getting it developed. Don’t know where you are but in the UK there is canon support for drivers and other software. You will need the sn of your canon to get the latest

Have you heard any rumors as to whether Canon will be releasing something in the near future that would sort of preempt the 5D?

5D mkV is expected late 2020-2021, but no announcements from canon yet. Meanwhile the 5D mk IV is great!
