i want to start photographing models

Ship models? Aeroplane models? Human models? What sort of photography? Portrait, fashion, or ?? Do you have any equipment or experience? What sort of budget do you have to buy gear? Is your end-goal simply to learn how to do this as a hobby, or do you want a pursue a career in photography?

If you don't even have a camera yet, it's premature to be talking about photographing models. Look at your budget, read camera reviews and find something you think you'll like and can afford. Canon and Nikon are the two big dogs so start there. If you have friends who are into photography, ask to see their cameras. Ask questions about specific camera models once you've gotten it narrowed down to 2 or 3. Then learn your camera. Learn about lighting, exposure and depth of field. Learn how to shoot in manual. Study composition, rule of thirds, leading lines and so on.

When you've outgrown your kit lens (which doesn't have to take long), you can start looking at better lenses, off camera lighting and other equipment. Again, these things can get expensive (esp lenses) so you have to know your budget.

Read and practice and take pictures of whatever will sit still long enough while you fine tune your skills. Good photography is combination of technical skill and artistry. These take time to develop.

buy a good camera and start taking pics. then move on from there. you have to have some skill to make it as a profession and that won't come until you get experience behind the camera. ive been shooting for a year and don't feel i have the experience to go into it as a profssion so you have some time to work out the who what when were why as you learn how to take photographs.
