Image Challenge - People Photo

This week ( Being stuck at work, with no time for a shoot) I was playing around with the new Lightroom 5. Well done Adobe.

I had to challenge myself and now the people of thephotoforum, to go and re-imagine something you might have shot before:

I took an old photo from January that was one of the worst I've ever shot of my lovely wife and tried to make something decent out of it. Like making a silk purse from a sow's ear.

A good idea for a challenge.

You did well to get such a detailed tight crop from the original. The crop and B&W gives it a completely different flavour.

I love it such fast glass for 200~ bucks.

I used to work nights in PST (Bay Area) - but that was before the internet :lmao:. Visited Reno a few times but never Las Vegas. Cape Town is pretty much the same zone as UK, I made it as far as Table Bay on a tanker to pick up stores but never got ashore there (was that really 42 years ago???).

This is a re-edited version (correcting the vignette and adding grain) of the image I posted in the thread "Salvage Job" a few days ago. I set myself the challenge of salvaging one of the worst photos I ever took of my lovely wife.

The before image is posted with her permission and is pretty much SOOC apart from cropping. When I first saw this one I winced and rapidly clicked onto the next image.

Are you challenging us all to go get LR5 and do this? I was watching some videos about LR5 last night and I think I am going to wait for it to come out and see what the final upgrades are before buying it.

I like the healing brush change and hope that stays in there for 5. Some of the other things seem like they would be very useful. I'll have to go home and rework some of my first pictures this week. It's been just over a year since I started with my first dslr.
