Is it creepy? C&C

I like this picture I took of my girls but my husband doesn't like it at all because he feels it's creepy. He especially doesn't like the expression of our youngest and thinks she looks "like a ghost". I did get other pictures of them but this was my favorite. Thoughts?

Well as the father of three girls you can tell your husband from me that until they actually start spitting venomous acid, well it's all good. Also exorcism isn't really all that it's cracked up to be, in fact after we had one done on our youngest we ended up taking her back in to see if they could put the demon back in - it really was so much easier to deal with.. lol..

But in all seriousness your husband might like the photo if you reduce the highlights a tad - it would make her face look a little less "ghostly".

Tried adjusting the highlights but I don't think it helped the creep factor..... any and all C&C welcome. Thanks!

Ok, well keep in mind this was extremely quick and dirty - but:



I selected the youngest girls face and copied it to a new layer, and brought down the highlights in just that section to pull some of the "glow" off of her face, then use the eraser tool to blend it into the layer below - merged the two layers and brought down the levels just slightly to reduce the brightness a tad.

I'm not much for C&C of people unless something is terribly wrong, which isn't the case here. I've seen a few creepy shots on this forum, but I don't think this is one of them. If anything I think the older one looks more ghostly, but that's just because you have me looking for it.

To me its the colors if anything.. B&W or warming would lose the creepy for me I think.

Yall are right, I do like it warmed up a bit. Not sure if it helps the creep factor but I like this picture regardless of husband's opinion of it. lol

As far as the girls' expressions, and the tender hand touch, it's a sweet exchange and I can see why you love the photo. You are looking at your daughters and the pose, and seeing this good stuff.

However, it is quite backlit, and that much glare in the frame is something that all the "warming up" of colors won't fix. So, your husband may never feel comfortable with the image due to the blown highlights on your youngest girl's face giving her that ghostly glow! This window has a beautiful frame, and I can understand wanting to use it as a backdrop. Try again, maybe with a smaller aperture, front-fill flash or at least a reflector to offset the overpowering element of the window light. I personally don't think she looks creepy at all, just suffering from too much light on her face.

I'd love to see it if you do! That's an awesome window and you have 2 beautiful little girls! A little bit of technical stuff can't change that.

He likes this one much better. I just think it's not nearly so interesting and her pulling on her ear like that bothers me.
