Is the EX 550 a decent Flash?

I know it's a little older technology but would it make a good OCF or back up?

I just picked up a used one for $200. I've only used it twice, OCF on manual, and a few test shots on TTL. The guy didn't have the manual for it though, and this is my first TTL flash, so as far as features, can't help ya. It doesn't have PC Sync, so I have to use a hotshoe adapter. Somewhat annoying. Also, the buttons on the back are difficult to push. They feel 'soft' so the only way you know if it recognized your 'push' is by looking at the screen. They could have done a better job designing it. But I'm not unhappy with it for the price.
