iTunes Cover Shoot for Rocker Kaity Floyd, how'd we do?

Would like some feedback on a shoot we just posted. It's for an old client of ours who's breaking into the music industry. She has a new single out, and needed some pics for iTunes. Thoughts?

Thank you, she seems to really love them! Did you listen to her song? I'm hoping the pics match the music, or at least compliment it.

Nice set; I'm not fond of some of the angles, but that's a personal thing. You'll likely get much better results by posting a few of the images here as many members aren't likely to follow off-site links.

The pictures are great, but I feel like the four with her in the red and black dress don't quite go with the others or with the sample of music I listened to. With the first and last of those, there's a bit too much Little Red Riding Hood going on, and with all of them I'm led to believe that she has a much harder/edgier feel to her music than it sounds like she does with Broken. Those four also seem a bit overcooked w/ the HDR.

I'm going to give you the most honest feedback I can, because I think ultimately it'll help. Because, just saying yeah these are great!
is not going to help.

As press kit material, these are average. I've seen many many press kits, and these are about middle of the pack as far as the photography. To me, they say 'local musician', when the goal is to look as sign-able and finished-package as possible. Especially being another girl with an acoustic guitar, you should be doing anything to separate from the pack, and to me, these seem average.

What I would do, is look at some of the press / promotion materials top 40 artists use. If your photos / material can't hang with those, then they're not good enough. And the real growth here is when you can be honest with your work in evaluating it to a very high standard. 'Is this as good as John Mayer's one-sheet?'

These kinds of questions are silly yes, but if you challenge yourself to the standards of the elite, you'll become the elite.

Tilt shouldn't be ruled out. Tilt isn't any more "wrong" than any other tool. It should, however, be used as a tool... Applied in appropriate circumstances for appropriate reasons.

I've actually heard this before, but I'm not sure what it is about my angles that is off putting. I guess I'll just call it my "style" and move on.

We ALT tag everything for the web so search engines will be able to catalog our work... it's hard to be creative at describing the images for Google. I try to use the "blind man" approach. I wish I was better at it. I really like the detail in your description bunny. I'm getting my protractor out now!

Great C&C, I really appreciate it and agree that we over bakes some, and I too feel like the Little Red Riding Hood thing is a little over the top.

I always know I"ve gone too far with the tilt when I tilt my head when viewing the image... which is what I did on the one with the train in the background.
