This is something Sam Hurd does a lot (a variation of the Brenizer method), but am guessing it's with a longer focal length than you used. He calls them "epic portraits." Epic Portraits - Washington DC Wedding Photographer Sam Hurd

EDIT: he's not using FLs much longer than you did. Basic EXIF is next to all the portraits in that link.

Funny you mentioned Sam. Sam used to be a member here. But of course the bullies here drove him away (not from the particular thread i posted below). People are so critical about wedding work here it drives me nuts (especially from people who do not do weddings). He posted a few more posts but not for very long. I wonder why we barely have any active wedding shooters here?
