Hey there, I found a Minolta 7000 Maxxum that belonged to my father in the basement. I attempted to replace the 4-AAA batteries and the 1-2016 internal battery. I camera has power but the shutter does not work or move. Also, the camera does not grab the film like it is supposed to when I attempt to load any film. I know that the film must go passed the red spot and fit into the reel. Any suggestions would be helpful.

    I have included photos.

The only practical solution is to find another body that works. These were popular cameras so there are a lot of them out there. Or, better yet, get a later model. The 7000 was Minolta's first AF SLR model. Many other models followed.

I bought one of these off KEH a few months ago for like $10. I went with this model for sentimental reasons, after I couldn't find my grandfather's original.

The Maxxum 7000 was a landmark camera. The first really successful AF SLR.

Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Pentax and others had each come up with clunky AF SLRs before Minolta but the Maxxum 7000 got it right with a streamlined package that worked well and had some great lenses to go with it. It was very successful and caused the other manufacturers to go back to their drawing boards to catch up, which some did and some didn't. And, some of those first generation Maxxum lenses are still sought after for use on Sony DSLRs.

To OP - Just went thru same sort of situation so I took a gamble and bought a 700si on ebay which does everything the 7000 did and more other stuff than I''ll ever use. Cost me 47 bucks shipped, perfect shape. Pretty happy and all the Minolta lenses we had work. No manual, but downloaded one on line.
