Models clothing...

So I shoot for the enjoyment of possibly creating a great image and the last couple models I shot wore stuff that was horrible. I'm unsure of how to handle it next time to avoid the problem, I've come up with either taking them shopping and getting them clothes that will look good on them, or them sending pictures on their phone of what they are planning to wear. Is there a normal thing to do?

This is certainly something that should be discussed before the shoot. If you want something specific, then you supplying the clothes or taking them shopping would probably work out well. If you are relying on them to supply the wardrobe, ask them to bring sever different outfits.

The last couple shoots I did, I had the models text me pictures of what they had and from there I'd ask if they had this or that, and they'd send me more pics of what they had that was similar to what I was asking.

^^ +1. Alternatively (since taking them shopping would become cost-prohibitive rather quickly), I would tell them what I had in mind, and what did they have that was of a particular colour/style.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I just didn't want to sound like an idiot suggesting something that just doesn't happen. While we're on the topic of clothing what about body paint? Do I have to get that online, I'm guessing I can't just get paint from home depot... One of the images I really want to re-create is the newer Megan Fox superwoman shot.

Whatever type of paint that the MUA/body painter uses. In other words, get an expert to do this. I've seen plenty of shots with amateur body painting...and they always look terrible.

I can't paint so I certainly wasn't planning on doing it, I'll ask a couple MUA's how they work that stuff out. I've heard there might be like a materials charge or something if it's TFP.

I've yet to see a nude shot I like. To me a suggestive nude shot is 1000 times sexier than a nude shot. It sure would solve the wardrobe problem though...
