My first Portraits

Here's two from my first attempt at Portraits. The edits are different..

Taken originally on a Canon 7D in Colour Jpeg

Both are lovely.. Very dramatic lighting and powerful expressions which fits well my taste. The only thing that pops to me now is that there are no catch lights.. Although the expression, lighting and exposure is great, trust me the catch lights will add alot especially to portraits.

Both photos were taken outside. The photo with the two facing was taken in the afternoon on a warm evening. I didn't use flash on these pictures.

Nice use of lighting, I especially like the first one. But I also noticed the lack of catch lights in the eyes. Had they been there, the images would be much stronger.

I LOVE dramatic lighting, it's my favorite! Nice!
The second one could use a little reflector to push some light up into eyes. They are pretty black holes. Even with dramatic you want some kind of sparkle or reflection in those eyes.

I would like to see the originals to see how you tackeled post processing in those. Maybe you can ask them to raise their chins up slightly and you will get the catchlight from the sky reflection.
