My Niece | Fall | Sun Flares |

See, I didn't see it as purple. So maybe our blue is a different hue? Sue? Loo?

Mine could use some work still, and her face is probably a hair too megenta (The file I was working with was way too small, and I was doing it in CaptureOne because I've been trying to learn it), but my point is, she could use some warmth in the skin tones.

I would borrow a calibrator if you don't have one and see what happens. Just my two cents. Especially since you just said that people are constantly telling you that your images are too cool.

I'm totally down with images that are intentionally made with a cool white balance to be moody and such, but this doesn't look intentional. It looks like it may be a case of an uncalibrated monitor.

Take from this what you will. It's just a suggestion. :)

Dangerously inappropriate posing device for an infant with zero trunk control whatsoever. Rest of comments sent in PM. Apparently your sister brought this chair to the session, and wanted her baby photographed in it?

No. We set it up, and my sister was about an inch out of frame keeping her safe. About 6 out of every 10 shots were with my sisters hands in the frame keeping her safe. And at 6 months she's got quite the self control and body control. Can do sit-ups and all that. So, no, we weren't being dangerous.

Oh, I see that. Okay, I'll fix it tomorrow! Good call... I will admit that this one was a bit cool out of LR but I couldn't make it look right warmer... So I went with it. I'll fix it! I swear!

Yeah, I used to work in a high-volume studio and photographed four to five babies every morning, and two or three babies every afternoon. I know exactly how "moms keep babies safe" and what kind of trunk control six month old babies have. You're barking up the wroooong tree on this one. Sorry, I disagree with everything you've said, 100%. Yeah, a six month old that can do sit-ups. Hilarious. You really do not listen to anybody with vastly more experience than you, do you? Sorry, but you have almost zero experience in this field. I do.

Compromising an infant's safety is NOT worth making some quickie snaps.

Very nice Jake, I've said it once and I'll say it again. You have a very bright future ahead of you, keep up the good work.

Also, I like your title :)

Technically speaking it's not the best--the framing is a bit sloppy and the angle is a bit low, but it's most definitely a cute/fun shot.

Cheers!
Jake

Cute, fun shot, yes, but you hit the nail on the head with what you said about the angle.

Your WB is super cool on her and needs to be warmed up.

I'm also curious as to what the SOOC shot looks like, because that sun flare looks seriously unnatural... like you maybe attempted to enhance it in photoshop?

I warmed it up... thoughts?

...Where?

Did you replace the image on the first page? Because if so... she's still blue.

(I did it in 2 seconds in LR this time, because it's faster and I know that program, haha)

Cute but yes as Emily mentioned she is way cool. Like smurf/blue. I would bet you could warm her up 1-2k. Please do calibrate. It is one of the MOST important parts of photography/editing. Also, Are you setting a custom white balance?
