National Airport Sunrise

Tuesday I was at National to catch a 7am flight. I got there early enough to get this shot before we had to start boarding. Also, I got a free upgrade to first class. Yeah, it was a good trip.

C&C is welcome. I did deliberately center the horizon in the second shot...I liked the perspective gained by having the dark tarmac with a few hints at forms and light even though it violates one of the most basic rules about landscapes (don't center the horizon).

Yeah, I was torn. I've got a shot from about 10 minutes later where there is more light and the foreground detail is good. But for these two shots, the foreground items often had lights (tarmac tractors, baggage haulers, etc.) that pulled your eye to the bright speck of white blob on the tarmac. So I decided to de-emphasize the foreground (which, I know, runs counter to my original statement about including the foreground to provide contrast and perspective compositionally). I'm just a mess of contradictions (I think that's why Lew was giving me such weird looks on the DC meet-up).
