I took these pics today of my husband and his flight during a memorial ceremony. It was CRAZY cold out, and windy!

Soo..tell me what you think :)

I think: "Typical Air Force wusses... it's a little chilly out so they gotta wear gloves"!

;)

The pictures are nice; #1 is slightly under-exposed and #3 slightly over, but you've captured the event. #2 unfortunatley is, IMO, a loss; you were shooting right into the sun and while you've got a little detail in the flag, there's not enough. This could have been a really nice image had you moved around so that the sun was at your back/shoulder I think.

That 2nd image is horrid, i really hate it, every part of it is badly exposed.

I like the contrast in the first image :)

lol a little chilly?! It was FREEZING! haha Maybe...40 degrees..if that! We are in europe :)

Thanks for the comments! I agree about the 2nd pic, just wanted to see what everyone else thinks. The original has more detail though. There was also no way to move where the sun was behind me, the flag was on a hill.

Thanks again!

Anyone else have opinions?? :)

using some flash would have helped the 2nd image and made it look spectacular but i doubt you had a whole kit on you lol

Do you like this one of the 2nd better? It is a different shot, (well..same shot different settings)

Better? or no?

The second flag shot is definitely much improved, but the dark hedgerow is a real detractor IMO. There's nothing worse than "seeing" the perfect photograph, but knowing you can't capture it that way. I think this is one of those unfortunately.

the flag looks much better but the foreground is still lost.
Here's my take. Just a quickie.

I think the 1st shot is the best of the 3. I don't like either of the flag shots, I think chevy's edit would be ok if it wasn't so noisy.

Aww thanks James lol i just fiddled with the levels quickly. I kind of knew it wasn't going to work no matter what we tried doing with it, the hedge is too lost, the difference in f stops needed between it and the sky is too drastic to not take a double shot.

Bahaha....You got jokes...Not all of the AF are what you call "Typical Air Force wusses" ;)

Anyways.....

I agree the second one is not that great. Maybe focusing a little more on the flag would have helped. I like the first one the best. Seems to be a little more intimate. Im guessing your husband is in the first row. Thank you for husband service. Us AF wives have to stick together.

Maybe some black and white and exposure adjustments could make picture number 2 a hit. Dont give up on it just yet.

As one of those "Air Force wusses", I don't feel that that term should be used to describe ANY of our fighting force. Yes, the Air Force may be less combat ready and more "behind the scenes" than the other branches, does not make us less of a fighting force.

Anyways, to comment on the pictures, I love the second flag shot minus the dark hedge,

#1: I think the colors are a little off, the blues look very high...and dark, maybe underexposed? #3 is pretty cool tho....Nice shots!

I was in the Marines and I can tell you all of the branches of the military are about the same. It's what you do for them that makes the difference. Can't really compare infantry units to mechanics or something... But still, everyone trains and everyone is a legitimate cog in the military machine.

EDIT: Although it's funny to call them the 'Chair Force'

#1's the best image here. I like that you're on eye level. I don't like the low perspective as much on #3. #2 I'd just delete, maybe try to re-shoot under better conditions - and the dead tree on the left side does nothing for the image.
