Hi. I'm new here and new to DSLR photography (especially portrait). Watched a video about using natural window light for portraits so I took this one of my daughter. Any feedback welcome.

Hi, and welcome!

I presume the point of the video was to show how you take advantage of a large diffused light source. The teacher (or you) have missed a few other points;

Frame your subject with a flattering frame/format, i.e.: portrait format.
Pose your subject in such a way that more of the nice light falls on her face.
Ask her to smile.
For headshots, get your camera about level with your subject's eyes.
Get some light on the off side by using a reflector.
Expose the shot correctly.

I agree with the above except the smile part. Don't ask her to smile. Tell her to do whatever feels comfortable and natural.
