I was at a pawn shop that has a fair amount of photography equipment today and tested out a Tamron 200-400mm f/5.6 lens. It's an older lens, no autofocus capability, push-pull zoom, noisy autofocus. This particular lens was missing its hood and inside the lens it was clear the either the coatings were peeling or something was growing on the various elements near the front of the lens.

Since I was shooting from within the pawn shop the test photo is through the glass door, out across the road, to some cars in a parking lot on the far side of the road, so please excuse the black shadows, those are the door frame and the sign on the glass, respectively.

The autofocus fell on the tree and the white SUV, around 650 feet away. The mailboxes are abour 400' away.

Another test shot, this time through the pawn shop's barred window, hence the black faint stripes. The truck was around 400' away, the car probably closer to 500'.

The lens actually performed better than I expected for no IS, handheld, with something inside that was less than ideal. If I had no long telephoto lens at all I'd consider it at their $100 asking price but having a wonderful 70-300mm with good image stabilization and weighing far less I couldn't justify buying this one.

I'm not sure if any flaws are because of the possible fungus or peeling, or if the lens is just like this, or if shooting through the store's windows was the fault.

Your results look decent for having been shot through window glass.
