Federico, I opened the colour and b/w images each in its own window to compare. I like your original color version more. The b/w seems to be a bit cropped compared to the original, losing some of the left hand sky that gives the original its open feel. I really like that sense of distance that was achieved in the original.

That's a great point, John. I cropped the image because I thought there was too much dead space on the left-hand side. It turns out that that space was needed to balance the composition –without it, the image looks crowded and loses its wide-open-space feel.
