One of my favorites as of late.

The man has no body. Just floating head and arms .
The position of her right hand does not look natural to me. Looks like it is dislocated.

I don't think it's that much of a problem that he's fading into darkness. I like that his arm is floating because of his black shirt. Looks intentional on the photographer's behalf.

I don't really know what that shiny thing is on her left side of her body. Is it a bow? I'd black that out for this particular b/w shot since it only pulls your eye away from the other highlights.

Have you considered anything to make it look less digital? BW photos tend to look better with a nudge toward the film look, particularly with the vales. I'd consider adding a little bit of film grain and moving the pure blacks in your exposure up a little bit so it's not 100% k.

I think it's a great photograph. I do NOT think it's a great materinity photograph.

I suppose I should have mentioned that this wasn't supposed to be a typical maternity session. When I said "maternity session", I simply meant I was taking photos of a pregnant woman. This wasn't the style that the majority of her maternity shots were done in. But, I also don't think those were appropriate to share on this forum. This, however, was a shot that I liked as an artist, not a maternity photographer. So, the point you made is one that I should have made in the beginning of the post So, in short, it wasn't supposed to be a great maternity photograph. It was intended to be a good artistic photograph.

Haha thats what i was thinking. I agree its a great picture, but for maternity picture, he is like "Why didn't the contraceptives work? FML" :lmao:

Now i havnt tried it but i wonder what it would have looked like if you put a speedlite right behind him pointing toward the camera. If it created strong rim light it would hope it would pop him off that black background. I'm gonna try that.

Like others, I don't care for his face. That being said, I think her right arm, his right cheek really pull my eye, they are so bright and needlessly so. Ditto her sweater. That shouldn't be the center of interest. Her left arm is a strange protuberance and to keep it in pushes the image off balance to the left. I would burn in the hot spots, to give them some texture clone out that bright thing on her hip and tighten it up some..
