I gather that in the past TPF was a happy place - new and old photographers posted their works and many helped each other along the road to becoming a better photographer - times were good, comments well informative, supportive and well written.

Then came the dark ages a period of bad feelings - of insults, abuse and probably more - the result of which is now we beg and hunt for crits round the site and many of those who used to give such advice freely now no longer do so in public over the forums.

I propose we change this view that has grown on this site and have a fresh start. A new start - that those who used to comment and advise more start to do so again in the public eye without having to be personally asked beforehand. I am proposing that we get back to the roots of why many of use share our photos and experiences - that being the willingness and keenness to learn and better our skills and get those shots that we want to get.

I cannot make this change - I need the rest of you to pull up your socks and help! So off you go - to landscape - people - general and the rest *but no the fun section of course * and start the ball rolling.

Thats a great idea Dano. out of the 25000 members there are only about 100 that come here anyways.. we can start from scratch.

I'm cool with the site! I get busy quite often and miss it for a day or so, but usually I hit it a couple of times a day. Sometimes I'm on so long that I catch up to the recent posts where I left off the last time I was on.

I have found the users quite informative, and typically nice. Although someone noting there are 25,000 members (if that's true) makes me wonder why there are not more responses to posts, but I don't respond to everything myself.

Let's keep it going! And if the database of members gets "flushed" I'll know rather quickly... and jump right back into the pool!

This place definitely got quiet after there was a massive revolt against me and like 10 socially inept psycho's went to a new 'forum' because they got mod status.

I think the rest of the board is teaming with folks, but the general forum lost it's gusto.

The forum can be better. There are a few things that need some tweaking and Im sure it could be the way it was, but I am not one to say anything.
The only thing I will mention that I think would really help , is more visible mods. People who can step in on the attitudes and crap, before the threads go too far. I feel if people want to get into an in depth conversation or heated debate, take it to pms (not p m s ) :lmao: But those threads that contain one of these debates that get started, should be warned before it gets out of hand. Someone to come in and say...quit it now. I know the existing mods try, but with a forum this size, there is a lot of babysitting to do.

I will shut up now, and go back to my crypt..Im having an old friend for lunch.

I think too much modding has taken things to where they are now though.

Like what's the point in saying what you actually think, if you're gonna get deleted.

that said, some people don't know when to shut up (myself included) and they should at least get the ban hammer.
