Kith yr killin meh her.

If you are looking at trying to be more professional and want the help of professionals then I would suggest speaking, or at least typing like one. It is hard to take you seriously with they many grammatical and spelling errors.

Since the OP's location is a South American city, english may not be their first language?

Last time i'll ask for help.
Y'all freakin RUDE.

It never ceases to amaze me how people can get offended then proclaim that they are leaving and never coming back as though it's some great loss to those of us that remain here.

OP, I think that you need to consider the point that I made and the response to your posts. Using high school text speak in a professional forum will only get you this sort of result.

I don't think people say they're not coming back because they think it'll be some great loss to us. I think they say it because it's one way of expressing how rude certain members of this forum can occasionally be. There's always good drama in storming off, and given the responses a lot of people receive to their first posts, their leaving is usually the least dramatic part of the thread. Elitism is rude. Saying it's justified because you're "more professional" or whatever, is also rude, and quite hypocritical. There are nice ways to ask people to type more clearly, and then in contrast there are the things that get said over and over again on this forum.

I'm an editor by profession. Text speak is like fingernails on a chalkboard to my grammar-loving soul. On the other hand, I often see grammar problems with *many* of the posts here, including the posts of those who point out the poor grammar of others. I'm sure there are even mistakes in MY posts, because this is more of a casual, "conversational" atmosphere, not a literary environment. I don't correct people's grammar on their Facebook posts, and I wouldn't do it here. If this forum were ONLY for professional photographers, it might be different.
This noob is 18 years old (meaning they likely grew up texting), English is very likely not his/her first language, and this is their SECOND post on this forum. Considering that, I really didn't think their post was that bad.

Honestly, would it be THAT hard to cut people a break at least ONCE? Go ahead and point out that you'd prefer they not use text speak in the future, and then WELCOME them to the forum and try to be helpful to them. Because honestly? It IS our loss...if we run off 80% of the newcomers by our rudeness and snide remarks, the forum IS worse off for it.

Forums like this work because they allow for such a wide variety of opinions, perspectives, experiences and such. IF ONLY the opinions of well-spoken, professional photographers are 'approved' then make it a private forum and make people take a grammar test before they can join.

Stepping down OFF the soapbox now...

As there are in almost everyone's posts at one time or another. No one is complaining because someone let a spelling-error slip through, forgot a comma, or used a grocer's apostrophe. I consider myself at least as well educated and conversant in the English language as the average bear, and I had to read the OP twice before I even understood what he (she?) was asking.

Absolutely not. In fact, I would submit that Keith did cut him a break by using humour to point out how immature and difficult to read his post was.

I just think it's funny that Keith edited his first post.
