My sister-in-law ask if I would take some shots of her girls. I really don't shoot anyone but my kids. I would anyone to take a look at these and let me know what I can to better such as compostion, cropping and post processing. I am always wanting to learn more. Thanks.

C&C per req: Not bad. Number 1 needs to be straightened a bit; she's leaning to the left. and there's an odd look to her right foot caused by the strong highlight; a quick bit of cloning or burning will fixt that. Good use of leading lines with the fence/gate, but your position was too low (ideally shoot at the subject's eye-level). Both images are somewhat under-exposed, caused by the camera's meter being affected by the strong back-lighting. Fill light (reflector or flash) should have been used to overcome this. I think #2 would have been a stronger shot with more girl and less fence.

Just my $00.02 worth - your mileage may vary.

If it were up to me I would only photograph my kids but I have to make a living somehow.
Not to sound patriotic but I love the flag in the back. On the contrary I am not a fan of the wood. In the first photo it dominates a lot of photographic real estate. In the second tt almost seems like it's standing in as her boyfriend.
Now on the contrary to my contrary I wonder if you can use the wood a frame of some sort. Have your nieces looking through it. Use it as opposed to just have it there.

I love the flag and the fence, except I have NEVER seen a fence of that kind that big so to me it makes it look like the girls are like 3' tall, which is REALLY weird.

In both shots I think you have taken up too much of the frame with the setting... particularly the second one. Remember the pictures are about the girls... not about the cool setting (no matter how cool it may be).
