Erose... theres nothing I could do about her shape. You are mainly critiquing the girl, not the photos. :er:
No... I'm critiquing the way you went about shooting her. She's a bigger girl, and therefore you have to be conscious of your angles and positioning. PHYSICALLY there is nothing you could do about her shape, but photographically there are ways for you to minimize certain features while accentuating her better features.I was also critiquing the choice of wardrobe in the one shot. There are certain things that just *aren't* flattering to certain body types... skinny or big... there are things that certain people wear that cause them to look a different shape than they are. That dress in the first 3 shots flatters her... it gives her shape, but not in a bad way. That coat on the other hand is totally unflattering to her in my opinion.I in no way critiqued *her*. I critiqued your choices as a photographer. But it's all a learning experience, and what I stated was just my opinion and you can do with it what you please. :sillysmi:
I agree with you somewhat... And I am reading up on what poses work for bigger people. But I think some of what you said is OVERLY nit picky. I mean just because someone is big doesnt mean they cant do certain poses... Thats just very limiting. I totally understand on not shooting up or try to get some flattering angles. But why can't a girl pose in her class A uniform? I thought the pose was cute and I don't think I should have been like maybe you shouldn't do that pose because it makes you look "stumpy" and have "no neck". What I'm trying to say is she is who she is. Everyone is different. I dont think there is really any poses I could do to make her look like a skinny mini so why not just work with what I got and do some fun poses instead of worrying "we can't do that pose because of this...."

You asked for C&C... so I gave it. What I stated was perfectly valid. If you don't agree with it, that's fine, but there's no sense in critiquing my critique.

A girl who really wears a Class A Uniform is not going that plus sized. I served in the Army for 6 years and if the Army does one thing right, it keeps girls fit. There all sorts of fun poses you can try. Just don't try one in an empty parking space. They never see the humor in that.

I think you did a decent job and the lighting is nice, concept, etc. Just touching on what e.rose said, of course you can't change her body shape. Certain things just do not look good on certain body types. For fuller figured women, something that emphasizes the waistline and shows the curves usually looks best, like a dress with a belt for example. I actually don't even think she looks uncomfortable, more like she just didn't know how to relax her face and smile naturally. I'm not sure if that makes sense. I have a friend who does this, she's not afraid to be in front of a camera, but the second she is she has a deer in headlights forced smile. I don't have a lot of experience with models, but once I told someone to just scrunch her face hard, close her eyes, then open relax, smile. It definitely helped. I read that tip somewhere, maybe even here?
Thanks for the tip! I did have trouble getting her to loosen up when getting photographed.

Thanks for the cc... You have the right to your opinion :)...I'm not trying to take you away from that.

She is a firefighter. They have class a's for that too :)What do you mean by the parking space?

What do you mean by the parking space?

^^^I don't think you want him answer that... if *my* response about her coat being unflattering to her put you off, when that was at least relevant to photographic *technique*, then his statement is *really* going to cheese you off...

Although, to be fair, I find the parking space comment to be in poor taste too... sooo... yeah.

Okay. Did not think it was a real uniform. Thought it was a prop. I refuse to comment further on the parking space thing.:meh:

Tell me I'm really curious now....

Sabrina, come on now. Don't tell me you do not get it.

I read it over and over again... I just don't get it!!

#4 is not flattering in any sense of the word. She's a bigger girl, so having her wear something "boxy" like that is only going to make her seem stumpy...
Really? I thought this pose and outfit worked quite well; maybe it's just the small size of the image.

I mean, that's just my opinion.

I think she looks stumpy. There's no shape to the coat, and her arms lifting up, raises the collar in such a way that it now looks like she has no neck.

Everyone in the world might disagree with me. That's fine. But that's how *I* feel about it.

Im with you on this one her legs look masive on that shot
