I'm still on maternity leave and I had nothing better to do, I know none of these are exciting but I'll post them anyway muahaha...

I have been TERRIFIED of horses since I can remember so the fact that I actually took a picture of one is amazing. Now I have fallen in love with them :) I just attempted to calibrate my monitor with the seemingly useless windows 7 calibrator so I'm not sure if these are totally out of whack. I also know that I cut parts of my cats head off.

C&C is always welcome and appreciated.

C&C per req:

1. I think the stem needs to be in focus here; the fact that it's soft and cropped sort of bothers me. I'd also like to see a little more detail image right.

2. Now that's sharp focus, at least on the left eye. Unfortunately, once again, I think insufficient DoF.

3. Good for you for getting the shot! I think a vertical orientation to include more muzzle might make it stronger.

4. I really like this; if you could re-do this without the white area in the background and the tack and maybe drop your exposure by a stop it would be really good.

5. Excellent capture!! How would this look if you rotated it 90 deg left?

Just my $00.02 worth - your mileage may vary.

Thanks for the comments! I'll keep everything in mind for the next time :)

I just tried the web rotated to the left and it was a no go :(

I think the cat is AWESOME!

I like the cat shot, number 2, the most of all of them. I think it is the most-complete shot, despite its rather pedestrian subject matter. Each of the other shots has something about it that makes it less than a keeper; wine glass has ugly lighting and is too tightly cropped; horse's eye has a split frame with nothing at all on the right side; horse's muzzle has that window in the back and the hot, floating buckle and is disjointed; spider web is off-kilter and looks like the vignetting on the left side is too much. It also just looks like a direct flash shot in a barn.

Thanks.

The wine glass I shot with my external flash and bounce card on my coffee table while I was bored lol. I agree about the rest of them after I look at your comments. I have the original to the horse shot that isn't in B&W.

Here are a couple more from that day. I only had my 50mm with me. I would have tried to get the horses ears in frame but I was already under the horse.

With #5, I fully expected to see the words "Some Pig" written in the web.

Nice captures!
