I took a shot of a friend in a chinese styled shirt.
Went back, post processed the image.
All comments are welcome.

Lots of potential here. A couple of thoughts: -You needed a reflector image left to provide a little more illumation for his head/hair. -Don't forget to level & square your images. -The background is very busy and distracting; you've made good use of selective focus, but there's still too much detail and the globe light above his head is what really grabs the eye.
 
I like that you nailed your focus.. The man's eyes are nice and sharp.

But I'm not crazy about the edit.. I think it needs warmed up a bit. His skin tones in particular strike me as "pasty" and not living.
 
Yeah the background would be better with less detail..
 
I love the bokeh coming from the left side, the circles.

Background....that will be my new observation point in portrait taking.
 
Can you post the exif data? I'd suggest shooting wide open but you may already be. The background's distracting, and I think, as aayria said, your white balance may be a little off.
