Recommend D7000 shutter release.

Is there any good quality shutter release that you would recommend? I know that there are tons out there but I don't want another lower quality one. My previous Vivitar broke at the connector from the weight of the cord. It also stopped working for some unknown reason. I do understand that there is the vello shutterboss remote with a DC-2 connection that's $52. I just would like to know what everyone else uses before I buy this remote.

I use the cheap infrared one. its a bit directional, but works perfectly well for portraits.

I use the RF-603's. They're primary function is actually for wirelessly triggering manual flashes but I've only ever used mine as a shutter release. Much easier then the IR option as you're not limited to line-of-sight sommunication.
