Thanks Darrel, this was a little out of my comfort zone which I debated even taking. I moved around several times before I finally couldnt resist taking the shot.

I like the way the man in the baseball hat is revealed in the reflection, and the way the girl's pointing finger is also revealed in the reflection. The man in the hat...in the actual scene, it looks to me that behind the waitress was standing a white-hired, older man...the reflection reveals a younger-looking man, in a baseball type cap! Those are the two things I find to be the most interesting about this shot.

There was a lot going on, like a little mini-series. I had already studied the scene from the other side, as I watched things starting to unfold I moved to the other side. There were so many things happening at once, I wasn't sure a photograph would reveal it all.
  • First, the two couples were not together, and the kids belonged to the couple in the back, who were to involved in their disagreement to pay any attention to the kids
  • The woman in the back had just finished giving the guy in the back the devil about something. She'd just stopped the rather loud tirade, but was still mad as indicated by the hand on hip, and that southern girl (I'm still pissed at you) look.
  • If you look closely, the guy in the foreground has a dog (leash is under his foot). This poor guy was just trying to ignore everything and eat his sandwich in peace, but the dog and the little boy found each other interesting, so like it or not he was being drug in.
  • The precocious little boy was asking the poor guy a thousand questions, and trying his best to engage him in conversation. He also used a lot of hand gestures when he talked.
  • The little girl at the table was trying to reel her brother in, pointing at her brother to behave.
  • The woman in the front seemed to find the discomfort of her male companion with the little boy very amusing. In fact I suspect she was encouraging the little boy.
  • And the two elderly gentlemen at the very back were totally unaware of the what was happening next to them. The guys reflection was a bonus I didn't even see when I snapped the shot. He actually had on a white cap, but the sun was peaking through the trees, and caused it to blow out on the detail, making it look like he had white hair. However, the reflection was shaded, so the detail is there. Kinda cool
In short I was lucky!!!

Wow, even more than meets the eye!

Nice street shot, know get your butt down to my neck of the woods and we'll go shoot in the hood. I'll bring my Colt 45, and make sure you pack your depends...
