Looks a touch underexposed to my eye, but the lighting is nice.

What are the reasons you chose to shoot it in landscape instead of portrait?

yeah i am having that same issue when i view it on my mobile, not sure if i had the monitor on too bright during postthank you though!

i wanted to go for something slightly less formal/more artsy. did i manage to pull that off?

Well, it's badly underexposed, and your face is off-center and too far to the right side of the frame, and your face occupies about 15% of the total frame, and then dead, empty space occupies about 80% of the frame. Is that what you mean by "artsy"? I'm honestly not sure what you mean by "artsy". That word has no clear meaning to me. If "artsy" means "kitchsy" and low-brow, or anti-artistic, then I guess it might be considered "artsy".

As a C&C I would suggest that, yes, technically it appears to suffer from underexposure and also under-lighting. Your hair is just a black tuft on top of your head. Your eyes as mentioned, are too far to the right in the frame, which causes visual tension. You are shown small, against an expansive horizontal background, which makes you look small and inconsequential within the context of the frame. You are small, the frame is large. It basically looks like you set a camera up on a tripod, and then sat down across from it. My suggestions would include processing it to be a bit brighter, maybe adding some digital fill light effect, and removing some of the left hand side's space to create more room for your eyes to "look into". Eye placement within a frame is pretty important, and just re-setting the eye placement will help a lot. Cropping off just 10% of the width on the left will create a major improvement.
