Greetings TPF! Since my wife and I had a new baby on the 20th, I figured I would try my hand at some newborn pics. Let me know what you think! I am partial because they mean more to me than to you, but that's ok, I would like to know what you think anyway. A couple might be a little more warm than some people would like, but I was overruled by my wife, who liked them...soooo yeah. I also noticed the tiara is slightly OOF on #4, but I figured the expression makes up for that.

The first two seem technically sound. I really like the first; there's a "prop" but everything else is simple. She's your little princess, very cute and girly! While the focus, etc seem alright in the second, I wonder if you've got too much going on? Flowers, headband, basket/tub thing... it takes away from the baby.

Three and four have some problems in the skin tone area. She seems very orange. I commend you on the posing, nice and natural; not all twisted up like something I'd get from Auntie Anne's


The last image: you were lucky to capture such a great smile from such a young baby! The headband, while I love it... this just doesn't work in selective color (unless it's a baby headband advertisement, I suppose). Something about grey babies with colored in head bows rubs me the wrong way.

Thanks for the comments. I agree with the color balance with the more orange skin tones. I balanced them out and my wife wanted them put back. I was curious if others would feel the same.

I think they are all very sweet. I am a fan of props used in moderation... I see nothing wrong with your use of them, though maybe include some that are just her, no tiara, on the pink.. I think I like your pink blanket best for the photos.. the black just seems so "dark" for baby photos is all.

I like #1 ok but baby looks may be a bit awkward. Not digging the selective color one much prefer the original. I also prefer the mire color correct version. Albiet your wife probably likes the warmer version simply for the feel and doest quike get the fact it has an Orange cast. After all is her princess lol. Not a bad start, there is room for improvement but im sure you can handle it.
