What's new

Site improvements I think the site needs.

No wonder some people are leaving this site feeling like they are being verbally assulted for just posting photos or commments or suggestions. It seems like that is what happening to me to. I just feel there is a need for a few changes so I went to the feedback section and this is the kind of response I get. Get shot down. Just like when I posted some photos for C&C and most of the time all I get is B.S. There are a few nice people I have come across on this site but for the most part the rest seem like a bunch of idiots so far for the way they're acting. Not too professional or adult in my opinion.

Here........drink some tequila w/ me!! Everything will be ok!! :greenpbl:

Thanks for the offer, but I don't drink. I stay away from alcohol. I have relatives who are forner alcoholics so I look away.

So photo guy.........what do you do to let loose?! How do you get crazy and party it up? What are you doing for New Years?

No, you posted a fire photo (or more, I can't remember) that noone liked and we gave you specific reasons why and how to improve. But you're the "official" fire dept photographer so you can do no wrong. That's fine, you're not the first to reject critique.

So now your here petitioning to have a specific sub-forum dedicated to fire fighting photographs even after creating your own website which is also dedicated to the same. You are the only one that I know of who has interest in this field so that to me is narcissistic. It seems to me you are living outside of social reality. I think you should work to become a part of this community instead of asking this community to become a part of you.

Photoguy,

have you considered that you might be able to improve the quality of your "work" immensely by going to a DSLR and learning how to use it? Using a "Fuji S1500 10mp with 12x optical, Kodak EasyShare M530 12mp with 3x optical both digital" is fine, but not if you want to claim to be a professional... because Point'n'Shoots seldom turn out professional results. :)

Haven't got anything planned yet for new years. 2 years ago went bowling, this year ? yet. As far as unwinding, sometimes I watch movies, listen to music or what ever comes along at the time.

Bazooka, IT IS NOT MY WEBSITE! It is one that I joined dealing with fire photography! Evidentally you didn't read the post right.

As far as becoming a part of this community, I have been posting other photos than just that (I have posted park photos with animals, christmas lights up at the park and on houses) to name a few since now you say I haven't and I have. First you like some of my work and now you are one attacking me. WOW

I am not claiming to be a professional! Where does it say that on my profile or in my post? It's NOT! Being an OFFICIAL photographer doesn't mean it has to be a professional title with it. I don't have the finances currently to get a DSLR as they are too expensive yet. I like to do photography and learn more about it but feel that I don't need to be harshly bashed about it either. If I wanted this much bashing I would have been a politician. I am still learning as you can't be perfect overnight and I am not to professional photographer level yet as I haven't shot the so called 10,000 photos or have a pro camera. A lot of people can't afford high priced DSLRs right away when doing photography and use what ever cameras they think would work to get started to learn photography first. That is one of the reasons why I think the other camera brands should be listed to. Thank You

Photo guy, perhaps the type of forum you're really looking for is one that would be called an Advanced Point and Shoot forum. That would encompass both of your cameras. The other forums mostly deal with DSLRs.

You don't need a DSLR to take quality photographs. There is a world of difference between pictures/snap shots and quality photographs. Understanding subject, composition, & exposure are the keys to a quality photograph. Being able to control those 3 concepts takes skill, experience, knowledge, and equipment that lets you do that. Cameras like the Nikon CoolPix P500 does just about everything one starting out in photography would need to be able to do and control.

As for Official, what does that have to do with anything concerning photography?

True.... although since over half the shots Photoguy has posted have been on AUTO AUTO AUTO...... who is really taking the photo... Him, or the camera?

Understood! And we all know that you very proud to be doing this... great! But when every other post, you mention that you are the OFFICIAL FIRE PHOTOGRAPHER, and then basically demand changes to an existing site to meet your "needs" or "wants".... some people might get a little tired of it. Especially when you are just a Point and Shooter... :) (previous comment based on the number of FULL AUTO shots in your gallery! Which I am sure will shortly be removed.. or at least the EXIF data removed!)

Official does not have to mean Professional as some people think. That is why I posted that now.

I am trying to help on this forum to by giving C&C on photos for people and answering questions on this forum like many people here. Some people ask what kind of photography I do and I answer. Evidentally some people don't like it. It shoot a lot of different photos and have a lot of those in my gallery on this site as I have removed some of the older ones and put the christmas light ones up. It seems like people just like to bash me instead of giving COURTEOUS / POLITE feedback to me.

To those of you who have given me polite feedback: THANK YOU

To those of you who have nothing better to do than bashing me: Take a hike as it is getting old. If you can't post anything politely, don't even bother to look at my posts or comment. Thank you for your cooperation.

I am trying to help on this forum to by giving C&C on photos.

Sometime it's better to C&C your own photos that you post, before you C&C others.
By posting what you think of your own images, helps others help you, by understanding what you know about photography technically, and artistically (composition).

I am not saying you shouldn't participate in that manner, but if you have no inkling of what is wrong with your images (recent xMas light thread) how can you guide others?

To Bitter Jeweler:

Depending on what photot I take I spend anywhere from 3 minutes to over 3 hours reviewing my photos after a shoot to see what I think can be improved. Sometimes I like to do it this way to see what other people think for advice so I know how far I have come along on some types of photography and can see how much more work I have ahead of me to learn.
