After all, as a photographer I feel it is my duty to promote the models who have given their time freely to me. The more work for them, the better!

Another thought is that even if he says he knows you that won't guarantee that the models simply line up to work for him - chances are they are reviewing his portfolio and judging if he can actually give them something. If he can then all's well if not then eh he'll get passed by like the rest.

In the end build up your own portfolio and don't worry about the other photographers and what they do - just focus on your self and locally network with photographers and models to build up your contacts.

I really like the point you make here. The more work they get, the more people see YOUR shots in her portfolio, the better chance of someone calling you to do agency models... Sounds fair to me!

I wouldn't even call it "sharing", because that still implies that one of you OWNS them.

I'm fairly certain models are capable of deciding who they want to and not want to shoot with. :lol:

I second the motion of "get over it". It's a shame that social networking is such a key part of business these days because it turns grown men and women into high school drama queens.

It's unfortunately true. In all aspects of life, too - not exclusively photography.

O.K. I see where you guys are getting at. No I don't own them but here is the thing... I get turned down by 10 girls before that 1 girls tell s me yes. Im doing all the leg work for somebody else to just step in and say ; "hey I know so and so and... we should shoot together" Shouldn't every one do their own leg work. It's not always fun getting turned down.

It's called networking and some day you'll be on the same end as this guy.

Who is to even say she will say YES to that one guy? And who cares if she does?

I'd be more worried about duder stealing your actual WORK... not shooting with a model that you shot with and somehow feel entitled to.

don't get your panties in a bunch. I never said I owned her and if you read my post I said that same thing you said. I'm sure these girls have shot with other people and I have nothing against him adding these girls other wise i would have said something to him already. All I was asking was if it was sleazy for him to hit up the girls I'm shooting with out doing any leg work. As Derrel said sLeAZY. I have no problem with networking but its not networking when he is just hitting them up after I .... aww it don't matter any ways. I just wanted to see how the masses felt about it.

::Guy sees picture of girl::

::Guy realizes he's a photographer::

::Guy sends FB request to said girl [To which you do not have an issue]::

::Guy asks girl to do a shoot::

::Guy has successfully completed networking with new gal::

::New gal now has the ball in her court and gets to decide if she wants to shoot or not::

Social networking... Face to face networking... Tomato... Toe-MAH-toe.

And my panties aren't bunched.
