Small Photo Studio Suggestions??

My largest room that I can use is 9'w x 9'l x 8'h. I will be shooting aspiring models. Is this too little room to use as a studio?? The walls are all white, so that will help with lighting. I have a Nikon D3100 and plan to use that.

Is this room too small or workable for a new photographer??

I like to shoot with at least 6 feet of space between my subjects and my background.
