Smart phone taking better pics than Canon EOS T5

The reason one image might be better than another between two 'cameras' is that the camera didn't take the picture, the user did. Smartphones compensate a lot for poor technique and so initially images may appear better than those from a camera (although "better" is always subjective) as the camera has less code to fix 'problems.
The camera however has the capability to take 'better' images if the person behind it takes time to learn how to use it.
