I just want 15 stops of dynamic range.

According to DxO labs, the new Pentax K-5 has 14.1 stops of DR, the most ever of any camera ever tested by them, which is pretty much all of them. It's a pretty impressive machine. I'm loving it so far.

Bu I do think the next war will be over DR. Megapixels are losing their flair, and FPS all being around 7-10 is about as fast as anyone cares about. HD capabilities will continue to grow, but will somewhat loose their wow factor soon enough. I think for a least a short time, DR will the the hot topic.

Dynamic range or HDR style tonemapping? We are currently in a position where the dynamic range of the camera sensor way outclasses that of the computer monitor and photographic film. So to what end is the war about continued dynamic range if joe average can't gain the benefits of it since he only shoots in JPEG?
