What's new

Sorry, but another Canon vs Nikon question

I guess that's my dilema. The Canon feels so much better in my hands I also like the canon 70-200 better. I recognise the Nikon AF system will outperform the older AF system by a large margin. I'm wondering is the 19 point AF system in the 7d narrows that gap some what.

Also thanks everybody for your replies.

The D300s will have better AF than the 7D.

The D300s uses the same AF module as the D3, which is on a par if not faster than the 1D MK IV, which in turn is better than the 7D.

Based on what test criteria?

Hope that helps!

That proves nothing , like i have said before, a few years back my old 1Dmk1 had more in focus shots than my friends D3 when we were shooting horse racing and printing on site, behind the veiwfinder is more important

Well, there you go..... that's your answer. That's the exact same reason I chose Nikon. They are both good products, but ergonomics plays such a huge role.

When I first started this process I really favored the Nikon D7000 at least on paper. Then I actually held the cameras in hand.

If the Canon feels better, go with it over the Nikon.

The 7D has a superbe focusing system, the best in the current Canon lineup. I'm not a huge sports shooter, but I have shot some from pro level soccer to 9 year old's hockey game and the 7D + 70-200 was a really great combination.

Feel and ergonomics are so very important.
