Last two trips we've been on, took my gear but never got it out.

I only take my gear on photo specific trips these days. My iPhone with pro camera app is sufficient for vacation photos. I prefer to be in the moment and enjoy my time with family and friends.

Lazy Lobster sent a short video of the snow falling at home thus morning. I can't wait to get back.

Are you not in Maine right now? Northern lights last night and expected again tonight of the clouds don’t kill our chance to see it.

Looks like clouds for us tonight, sadly. If you’re in a green area in the northern US, you may have a chance to see northern lights tonight.

No, in Glen Burnie, MD - MLW had her procedure Monday (everything was good) and don't like traveling on a holiday. I'm leaning towards heading back Friday. I have a couple appointments in Maine next week.

The Aurora was visible in Southern Maryland last night, which is an hour south of where I am. It would have been visible here except we were clouded over. It's supposed to clear up in another coupke hours. We might take a short drive to Kent Island whish is in the Chessy Bay, so clean views northward. We are a few miles south of Charm City so lots of lights.

I took a trip to Western MD today to play in mud and drive over some rocks. I didn't leave any fluids or parts along the way so I guess it went well. The trail is rated moderate but was very challenging. I don't have a lot id experience off-roading yet, and the truck is basically stock. I can see an advantage to a 2" lift or so. This is the first Jeep Badge if Honor trail in MD, so I get a little metal tag. Most people mount them on the front fender but I put mine on a bead chain hanging from the mirror; a little reminiscent if military dog tags.

Some days you get a turn in the barrel, today was my day. Decided to change the fuel filters on my diesel myself to save a $100. Ended up cracking the cheapo plastic cap, which was a ??? a $100 plus shipping.

Well look at it this way, had you taken it to the shop and they broke it they'd still charge you labor plus the new part. Few dealers accept responsibility for their mistakes.

True! Just aggravated diesel one tons aren't cheap, why they would put a cheap plastic cover over the fuel filter thats under the frame rail exposed to all the dirt and road spray is beyond stupid. I see now why there are aftermarket ones that are metal spin on arrangements designed for the job.

Well apparently I have other issues, with my Ford, the fuel pump isn't picking up at all. Sending it to Ford on a wrecker in the morning.

Howdy Folks! Well, we did the free winter trial here in North Texas and decided to cancel. We are back to 60's-80's weather, which is just fine by me for right now.

The Northern Lights were visible here, but I slept through them, so no photos. In all my decades of living in TX, I don't remember the Lights being visible here. Hmmmm.

Glad that those temps rallied a little! We were literally freezing a few days ago, but the next few days will stay in the upper 50sF.

Today we had a near-perfect fall day: clear, hard blue skies, several trees still clinging to their leaves- just wonderful. Tomorrow is supposed to be the same.

No visible lights on Kent Island; clouded over. Another person there was snapping some long exposures with a mirrorless and could see a pink streak behind a cloud. No such luck with the phone camera.

Left late this morning for Maine; staying the night in Connecticut. I’ll be across the Piscataqua River Bridge and home tomorrow. MLW and MLSIL will come up next week after a couple med appointments.

Solar/weather gods hate me. Have a perfect light pollution-free spot at the nearby uncontrolled small airport. Damned overcast/cloudy nights! Last winter, max viewing coincided with several spontaneous partial block party/BBQ/pro-am drink-a-thons. No licensed kid or frau stepped up subsequently to play chauffeur to save us from possible DUI entanglement. Maybe this winter?

Yeah, clouded up here, too. My solar storm alerts says M1.33 which I understand means minor activity. So, after a couple of long driving days, I've decided to relax with some hot cocoa and a couple Death in Paradise reruns.

Sane approach. Love that series' many versions. Re-running "Peaky Blinders" now along with "Ripper Street." Gonna be a long winter...
