Hey Ya'll, it's been a while. Hope you all doing well.

Sadly I am not doing much photography these days. My job kinda exhausts me by the end of the day and I end up not wanting to do any photo related things. I did finally send in the rest of my film to get developed and scanned, maybe I can share some of my favorite ones here when I get a chance.

I'm still adjusting to this new life and new routine, it hasn't been easy that is for sure. But it's nice to have good benefits and a steady pay check. It took a lot of stress off me financially. I'm excited to finally be able to afford to buy my own vehicle which is gonna be a game changer for me not having to rely on others or borrow others.

Things are looking up for me but it doesn't feel like that. I still feel like there's a lot on my plate that I need to do and I'm just one person. Trying to juggle it all and maintain my sanity is gonna be a challenge in of it self.

I been looking at buying a fancy new watch to help with my tasks at work and not relying to having my phone in my pocket constantly at risk getting damaged. When I am making deliveries or picking up, I often get people texting me and I don't touch my phone while driving, a) it's illegal here and b) it's just flat out dangerous. When I am using my GPS navigation, it would be far more safer to look at my watch while my hand is on the steering wheel instead of looking down at my phone in the cup holder

So I was looking at the Apple Watch Ultra 3 which feels amazing but perhaps a bit too big. But dang is it a nice watch. Maybe a bit expensive for what I need but it felt better than the regular Series 11 watches, the 42mm felt way too small and crammed, and my mom said it looks like a girl's watch. The 46mm version is better but if I go for the titanium model, it's only $50 less than the Ultra. So I'm like does it make sense to just go for the bigger watch and live with it, could I sleep with it?

Who knows.

Was curious if anyone here had smart watches and could share their experiences.

I think there is some camera trickery going on here as well. The photo looks like the watch is wider than my wrist, it is not. It's also sticking up over 1/8" taller due to their security tether.

I love my Apple Watch and wear it daily. It’s great for when I am out hiking or at the gym I can leave my phone at home (I have the watch that has its own service and doesn’t need to be linked to my phone to work). I can use it to pay at the coffee shop or grocery store. Got some great after market watch bands to dress it up.

However, when driving and I get, or need to send, a text I just use Siri on my phone to do it so I can keep my eyes on the road or keep looking at the GPS. Say “Siri read my texts” and she will read them out loud. “Siri text Joe ‘I’m going to be 10 minutes late’” etc. No need to look at your watch or you phone.

Stay safe out there! Don’t try to do it all, just get into a work and sleep routine and then start carving out some time for things you enjoy.

Welcome back.

I looked at the Apple Watches a few years ago but I really don't wear watches.

As far as navigation, I use the phone. Both vehicles have Apple Car Play so I see the map on the radio screen and texts & phone calls are hands free. In the rare case where I'm driving MLSIL's car, which is older and without Car Play, I turn on the nav app voice prompts; calls can go to voice mail and texts can wait or someone else in the car can read them to me if important.

For several decades I wore a suit, tie and a watch. Now I don't and have no intentions of wearing them again. I have navigation in vehicles, my phone connects via blue tooth, and text messages are read out.

Well all the company cars are pretty much base models so they don’t have Apple car play. Very basic Bluetooth capabilities.

I’d mainly like it for sleep tracking and working out.

MLW got some red roses for no reason, this morning. Granted they were from the supermarket, but she still liked them.

We only had a couple small vases, so we split the roses.


MLSIL got an arrangement for her birthday, a couple weeks ago. These are what is left (her favorite color). Yes, it's a small milk bottle from our favorite creamery.

I don't do the iPhone, and I quit wearing watches quite a while back. But my DIL gave me my son's Galaxy watch when he passed, and I've been wearing it.

The health app works well, it has alerted me to Afib a few times until I got that taken care of.

As well it has nice work out recording, etc. I use it more for that than keeping time. lol.

Had a pleasant OMG moment last night. I've been friends with a lady from my old hometown on FB for awhile now. Something about her seemed familiar but I couldn't place her, a FB comment led to phone call from her last night. Once she told me her maiden name all the pieces fell in place. She was the sister of my brother-in-law (he passed away during the end of COVID), I had only known her under the maiden name. We had been communicating on our home town FB page for some time, neither knowing the connection. She was also apparently one of my teachers in grade school. DW and I had a long conversation with her, she was sharp, witty, and interesting which was surprising given her advanced age (91), she sound more like a young person. Small world!!!!

Funny how the pandemic gave many the time, headspace and need to use social media to reconnect. Like bubbles in our beer it didn't last but calmed us and lent perspective that uncertainty shortens.
Old friends and loves floated back into view. Dream-like but welcome. Still processing it.

The Jeep club is going to have a statewide scavenger hunt, hopefully sparking more interest in the club and causes we support (mainly bereast cancer research). We are looking for a feature or location in each county to use. I picked the Veteran's Memorial Park in Lewiston (Androscoggin County). There is a display with a tank, a Jeep, a jet and some kind of big gun (I couldn't see anything but the muzzle and the only the parking lot has been cleared.) Across from the displays is a big "Lewiston" sign. We simply take a snapshot of our Jeep with the feature.

Me, two. I think she said there were 70+ vehicles (not all Jeeps) at the last pink ribbon ride. Houlton is a three hour drive (on a good day) so it's a haul for some events, but they are a good group.

20sF with wind? Gulag-like...More tomorrow, too. There goes my in-house January bar tab!
