Phoebe had a visitor this morning in her yard. A yearling doe was standing at the bottom of steps to the deck watching her. Typical fashion they just stared at each other not quite knowing what they should do. Finally the doe ambled off nonchalantly and Phoebe went about her morning business as if there'd been no encounter.

In another first, I've temporarily lost the use of one of my hanging planters. A mated pair of Mourning Doves has moved in and have been building up a nest. If they lay eggs and the Jays don't eat the younguns, I might try to get some shots of them before they vacate.

Take shots at those Jays - the mean kind!!! Little bastids, robbing nests. It's an awful thing to see happen.

Got into one of those projects with intention of a quick fix patch of a few deck handrails but with every one replaced, it just kept making the remaining ones look worse. Two more sections to install tomorrow and I'll have replaced all 100ft of railing. Now to seriously evaluate some decking and I'm ready to stain. At least I'm at the age that this will likely be the last time "I" do this.

In other news Diesel up to over $5/gallon most places. Fortunately found one station still at $4.24. Took $110 to fill my tank.

Have you seen any of those adorable videos on Instagram or YouTube where the family dog brings home a pal and it’s a deer? Sometimes it’s a whole family of deer. Sometimes it’s a goat.

This happened to a friend of mine on her balcony. they nested in the wreath that she had on her back door, leading out to the balcony. She ended up, giving up access to her balcony until the baby birds were out of the nest. And now they come back every year nest in that same spot.

Talk about Déjà vu, yesterday the high was 85f, rain moved in overnight and by this morning it was high 30s. Same date in March 1993 same scenario 85f the day before, rain overnight, except the bottom fell out on temperature and the rain turned to snow. Dumped 14" on us before it quit, temperature bottomed out at 0f and the winds howled causing arge drifts that shut down the roads, and toppled pine trees. Just as quickly as it came the temperature shot back up, 3 days later the snow was gone but it took over 5 days to restore power and clear the trees.

Drove from Baltimore back to Maine today, leaving about 5:00 AM. I had a drizzly, misty rain until almost out of Massachussets. MLSIL, deciding to stay back in the Charm City metro area, had a dusting of snow this afternoon.

Careful starting down that road. Can be costly if not chosen carefully...or if you actually use it offroad. Trust me. Not to mention all terrain tires suck in the mud. Great on rocks but not mud. For that you'll need real off road tars.

Why not? Dood you live in Vermont! I did **** like this for 17 years in this Jeep. 217K miles and it ran well when I sold it. Body cancer bad but it was a Jeep after all. Spend the money play the games.
