What's new

Thread moved from beginner forum

Soooo... what exactly do the admins think they accomplished by eliminating the critique forum? Or am I still missing something here?
What you are missing is that getting rid of the C&C section was supposed to also get rid of the C&C threads. Obviously, that didn't happen.

Facepalm....over and over and over and over and over....

(This is not in response to the reply immediately above, or to any particular comment in this thread, just the entire topic...)

When you have something like a crit section you get regular posts within that section (as you do in any section/division). This creates problems because you then have easily identifiable targets within the population which can be the recipients of abuse. This can come in many forms from one person not liking that they don't get 100% all wonderful comments to "armchair" photographers giving out poorer advice and getting flamed on as a result.

The problem is that since beginners has taken over as the dominate section we are getting this effect again - in a slightly more broken (because its a large population and threads cycle fast) manner, but it is still happening.

too many fora. Think about it. If Ansel was still alive today, where would he post his Yosemite pictures? Black and white, landscape, professional gallery or beginner? (the last one is joke)

and we can talk about it all we want... but would anything *actually* be done about it? In the time that I've been here I've seen several "forum suggestion" type threads pop up and *none* of them were even remotely acknowledge by the admin (at least to my knowledge).
I guess it's possible. That is how we got the Macro section, after all.

Took three separate threads asking for it, if I remember right...

I would be kinda surprised though, for the C&C section. Only because it's something we did have, and was taken away from us because people couldn't handle it.

Just like I wouldn't count on ever seeing the Nude section again.

Derosa = do I get a place in your list of nice people? ;) :)

It wasn't intended as a list of "nice" people...and I did mention there were others..., but Overread, you a certainly "in!"

I am not clear if some are suggesting the elimination of the cc post...but I, for one, have learned a lot from these posts in particular. I also appreciate that there are more experienced folks chiming in. That way we don't entirely have the blind leading the blind.

Well if he wanted anyone to see it he'd obviously post it in the beginner's forum.

I would love to have a wedding section.

Yah something like 3 attempts (and I think I'm still down to write a sticky for it as well.....)

Heh the nudes section was nothing site linked however it was an advertisers choice that got that killed (and a great shame as it was sizing up to be such a great and informative area)

how about a glamour/nude section for people with 1000 posts and more? :)

If a bunch of you only look at "Active Topics", why do you care what section they are posted in.......just sayin

Dream on - Erose does band photos not self portrait nudes :lmao:
Besides as said its the advertises restriction on the site so no nudes - no matter how much you hide/beg for it ;)

Because if YOU post YOUR threads in the 'correct' section, they get buried and nobody will see it.

If everybody (or at least almost everybody) 'did it right', the problem would just disappear.
