The lighting is coming across rather flat? I'm guessing the light is camera left on same plane as the subject, try camera left at a 45 degree angle to creat a more dimensional light.

Yeah, that's definitely one of my complaints with this image. I am always worried I'll make too horrid of shadows, so I tend towards too little shadows, and just end up with flat lighting.

she's not wearing any makeup, just a bit mascara...it's so refreshing... and she's beautiful...

now...I don't like the pose... I keep looking at her armpit (is that the word for it?) and shirt stitch. The color is just too strong and gets all my attention...

and, this is in general, I don't like magenta, rose, red produced by a camera. it's too saturated so I always tone these colors down a bit.

off course, it is just and only my opinion...

I think there is too much non-contributory space above her.

I started scrolling to see the rest of the image and was thoroughly disappointed...


besides that, it appears a touch overexposed and a bit blue on the WB.

Because I'm still learning. I in now way proclaim to be a professional portrait photographer, and I finish every shoot with one or two personal critiques. I only just started portraiture, and have plenty to learn.

A good way to learn more is, when you post an image, tell the audience what you think is good and what you think is bad.

That way anything you hear will be new to you.

Should her eyes be more level?
They are slightly skewed which to me detracts from it .. but being a newbie and horrible at portraits so far take it with a grain of salt.

One of the general guidelines of portraiture is that anything the subject has two of (eyes, limbs, breasts, etc) should be on different levels.
