This was really small, not quite a millimetre so I was pushing my luck not having a real macro lens. Another earwig.

Very nice image and well taken too, you do not always need a macro lens as if the image is sharp then crop it in.

I've commented on this before. The lens I use on the camera (Sony a6000) most of the time is a Sony Zeiss 24 1.8. It is an excellent very sharp lens so combined with the cropping I can do with the 24mp I can get away with pretty good macro images much of the time.

Yes they are springtails, I have photographed that or a similar species in Colombia.
