Two Recent Hydro Towers

I was sorting through my shots and separating my favourites/best and the first one made it into the final cuts but I realized I had never shared it!

I like all of the details in the first one and the scale given by the ladder in the second.

Would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks for taking a look despite the fact it said hydro towers in the thread title!

Hey Pix, You looked lonely out here with no replies, so here I am.
The second shot with the OOF tower wasn't doing much for me, so
I played with the first one. I just tightened up the crop and removed
what was left of the lower left tree. After looking at it some more, that other
tree sticking out in the snow bugs me to. Just a thought

I personally like the first with the larger view. I think it needs more scenery to it because i feel that the purpose of the shot is to balance out the towers with the foreground. Am i right? I also like the second shot because it is different and has all those lines.

Hey Rick, thanks for making it not so lonely in here!

Thanks for taking the time to do the crop, I pondered it for a while today and quite frankly it is a crop I would definitely explore, unfortunately (to me) despite taking away a lot of detail in the foreground it somehow makes it too busy to me..... not even sure how that is possible...

Swashburn, you are right, I was using the foreground to balance the towers, it leads my eye through the picture starting bottom left and up to the towers making them more integrated into the landscape than jumping out as the overpowering subject they tend to be.

I like Rick's take on it, mine is a bit different though; cropping it horizontally through the open snow just below the tree line closest to the towers to remove the foreground trees.

I prefer the first one you have posted. I really like how the trees demonstrate the scale. I didn't even see the ladder the first time I looked at the second shot. The towers are just so huge I can't believ how tiny those trees look. I like the horizontal crop as well, but do feel that the foreground is a bit too busy. Maybe a square crop ?

I would just remove the dead looking tree in the lower left as I find it distracting to the nice lines of the photo
